"I can't thank you enough. I've met with several people over the last week, none of them were as personally invested, insightful and pragmatically helpful as you have been.   It’s clear that you love what you do and truly want your clients to succeed."  Clifford P. - Photographer

L.A. Photo Curator: International Photography Awards - 'Where Photography & Philanthropy Meet'

June 19, 2017

CALL FOR ENTRY: 'Nothing Special' with curator Bree Lamb. Deadline to enter July 8, 2017.

Bree Lamb is a working artist, editor, and educator based in New Mexico. She is the Assistant Editor at Fraction Magazine, Project Manager for Fraction Editions, and Part-Time Faculty at New Mexico

State University.

Lamb received her MFA in Photography from the University of New Mexico. She is a Beaumont Newhall/Van Derek Coke Fellow and is represented by Gallery 19 in Chicago. She regularly exhibits her work and is represented by Gallery 19 in Chicago.

Lamb has previously worked for Wildenstein & Company, The Center for Photography at Woodstock, Fovea Exhibitions, and photo technique Magazine.

THEME: “NOTHING SPECIAL”

Lamb says, "From the spontaneity and unpredictability of street photography to the artfully crafted still life to the happenstance urbanscape and far beyond, photographers have long been able to create powerful, beautiful work drawing from the banality of everyday life.

How do you make something compelling out of nothing special? This question has become compounded as the ubiquity of image-making and image-sharing has reached at an all-time peak and is steadily growing through various social media outlets. In a time when we are sharing, “liking,” and viewing more images than ever, how are you

seeing and capturing the world around you?

This call is looking for well-seen images of the everyday - the benign, the boring, the overlooked. I’m curious as to how you view the world, and in particular how you capture the subtle, in-between

moments, people and spaces that are such a large part of our daily lives. Whether found, staged, or manipulated, all subject matter and methods of capture are welcome."

20% of all artist fees go to two charities a month. They're split between the curator's favorite charity and the first place winner's favorite charity.

Lamb has chosen the Union of Concerned Scientists for her charity.
(Practical solutions to some of our planet’s most pressing problems—from combating global warming and developing sustainable ways to feed, power, and transport ourselves, to fighting misinformation, advancing racial equity, and reducing the threat of nuclear war).
